Step 1.

The clients requirements are discussed, a general design is agreed, and the plan is drawn up. Achieving a specific feel to a room is all about the detail.

Step 2.

The ground floor walls have been knocked through and the floor joists are checked for any signs of decay and damage. Under floor heating is being used in this project, as the floor area is to be tiled with ceramic floor tiles. This also helps in warming the room all across the area and not in pockets as with radiators.

Step 3.

The floor is covered with sheets of plywood to level the rooms into one flat area. Next the under floor heating is placed down and fixed into position. We are using the Saloni ‘Life’ tiles in this room which are 800mm x 800mmm, this gives the appearance of a continuous floor as the tiles spread out over the area with little grout lines showing.

Step 4.

Protection is put over the floor as the excising kitchen and the temporary facilities are removed in order to install the power and drainage for the appliances and washing facilities. The layout of the electrics is planned well in advanced using the floor plan agreed by the clients so the finished result has the exact look and detail required. Unsightly switches and spurs are placed in an area and labelled for identification to avoid confusion in the future. The installation of the new cabinets can now take place as all the preparation is completed.

Step 5.

Attention has been paid to the piers holding the RSJ’s in place; they could become ugly if they are not designed into the kitchen properly. So as not to draw the eye towards them we have chosen not to make them a feature and carefully fitted the kitchen around them, without loosing cupboard space. The unsightly sockets for the appliances are concealed in one of the cupboards below the pier for easy access and identification.

Step 6.

If you look closely at this image you will see where all the attention to detail has paid off. The cooker unit’s site exactly central to the piers even though the measurements of the units below are not identical. This means that the eye will only pick up on the symmetry of the layout and not the cabinet sizes used to make up the base unit run.

Step 7.

To keep with the contemporary look we have used a 50mm down stand on the units, it lends itself very well to the sleek rail running across the tops of the units. The sinks have been under mounted in a 20mm thick piece of composite worktop. This finish uses recycled glass to add interest and color which is a perfect balance to the high gloss white units sitting below.

Step 8.

The central Island was created to cleverly conceal the microwave and double up as a food preparation area. The kitchen also needed a place were people could sit and participate in feeling part of the kitchens activities when some one is cooking. Its really creates a social part to the family life were people can catch up on the days activities and mum can still get the evening meal ready without missing a moment.

Step 9.

The kitchen is now cleaned, and the team inspect the units and workmanship for any flaws .The covering is removed from the doors and the inspection is completed all that’s left to do is present the finished room to our clients.
